Sexuality has detoured drastically. sex acts
demand safer Sex. Has all the fun of raw sex gone astray? Sexual
practices remain the same apparently but sexuality can't be expressed
fully without safer sex.
In 1981, a large number of male adults, homosexuals
and living in and around San Fran's bay area and New York, showed signs of Kaposi's
sarcoma, pneumonia and further implications to the immune system. Conclusively,
there was a new disease altogether, not yet known, probably infectious and highly
contagious. Namely Syndrome of acquired immune deficiency. Later, some cases
occurred at the end of the seventies', were identified as the same sexual
disease-AIDS.
Almost 25 years after, the scenery is a little less desolate than at the time,
when a HIV diagnostic would be like sentencing someone to death row and, actually,
the first patients wouldn't last more than 6 months, victimized by opportunistic
infections. A failure in the immune system that invariably leads to death.
In 1996, at long last, researchers announced a great breakthrough
in sexuality to the world. The combination of three medicines capable
of extending life of HIV infected people, which stuck out as the
best ever news of the decade in the medic field.
By the first time, a combination of three medicines-AZT, 3TC and the protease
inhibitor NORVIR had reduced the viral load to undetectable levels in nine patients.
However, an important detail there was, all of whom began taking medicine as
soon as possible, only three months after infection detection. The protease
inhibitors- a new class of nukes pertaining to the combination therapy hit mainstay.
All of which, block replication of new virus in cells, thus giving a break to
the system. To talk about cure would be hasty, although the so-called cocktail
of retrovirus brought in new perspectives to millions of HIV positive people
the world over.
Therefore, people no longer die from AIDS currently so much
as learning to live with "AIDS", as if chronicle similarly to diabetes
that can be kept under control and monitored efficiently. With care, life expectancy
increases as one learns to plod along much as any other healthy individual,
who works, loves and make long run plans.
That doesn't necessarily mean, by all means, that protection
isn't required any longer as believed by some or challenged by others like the
bare-backers. 14 thousand are being infected on a daily basis. The east Europe
and central Asia are areas where the pandemic grows rapidly and as much as 95%
of people living with HIV live in the developing world, which
due to religious inculcation, bias or sheer ignorance, disregard safer sex
practices in its most popular form the condom during sex act.
The HIV infection takes place, mostly through bodily fluids. Hugs, kisses and
caresses among others amenities don't bear infection. In the world, mainly developing
countries, the number of HIV infected people is almost the same as men. World'
stats point to a significant growth of females, especially adolescents between
13 to 19 years of age, hitherto the youth of epidemic.
Prevention and information or safer sex, key words for
the ultimate sex life, neglected by and large, comes as contribution
to increasingly rates of infection. Nonetheless, safer sex, a phrase
repeated exhaustively in the last decades all over the world, but carries the
only efficient form of prevention known, apart from abstinence and celibate,
it's hard to know what to make of it. It's up to you.
