Nowadays, one cannot be too careful. Bizarre stories, which could belong to
any horror movie or ghost story, take place in cosmopolitan centres worldwide.
Walking alone at night is not only imprudence but also a troublesome invitation.
However, things can go way beyond that, mentally ill people, at large in the
cities circulating among us. Not even the daylight offers protection any longer:
they act anywhere, any time of the day. They are the so-called "sexual
predators", and the FBI is still searching for the lot who fit in that
description.
Since each state has its own law and penalty definitions, there isn't an exactly
definition for the term "sexual predators". However, generally speaking,
sexual predators are individuals who committed or were involved in any sexual
crime against other people, especially minors of less than 12 years old. Those
crimes include rape, exposing kids to inappropriate material purposely, inducing
kids to explicit sexual conduct. And yet, any kind of sexual assault and battery
(punching, kicking, tying, with no previous consent), commit indecent assault
upon or in a presence of a child less than 16 years old, commit indecent act
upon or in a presence of a child less than 16 years old, among others.
Often these predators seem to dress sound as charming characters, not giving
away any clues of their objectives. As cunning, they like to talk - in other
words, appearing sympathetic. Sometimes, there could even be someone known and
trusted. With their charismatic personalities, they can persuade victims into
secluded places. Then, it's only a matter of time. Of course, those crimes occur
also in busy places. Some of the victims manage to escape, but that's not something
you would bet on. These crimes leave physical and psychological scars likely
to carry on for the rest of the victim's lives, making more difficult for them
to move on and carry out social life. Some even refuse to go out in public afterwards.
Therefore, as mentioned beforehand, you can't be too careful. Some of them
sexual predators are on the loose among us, and we have to concern not just
about our safety, but the safety of our friends and family. Not that everyone
has to be paranoid - it's not that. We just have to pay attention so we do not
give them any slack to be attacked or threatened. Certain wounds cannot be healed. |
